So, it has been a busy month and a half for the Kinders, which is why I have been so remiss in posting! A quick update: We have MOVED to Austin, Texas (for Jon's work). We had considered moving since this summer and decided to go for it in November. We wanted to move before Christmas, so we could be settled in before the holidays. We are living in a North Austin house and we love our rental house and the neighborhood. Jack seems to be settling in quite well and we pretty much duplicated his old room set-up, so he recognizes everything. Jon and I are trying to learn our way around. Actually Jon is doing quite well and I am doing so-so. We live in an area where we have some of the same stores north and south of us and I can never remember which one we went to. So, I am often saying, "I think that was the Home Depot I went to, actually, no it wasn't. Wait, no it
was this one....I'm not sure." As for all the things we didn't post about because we were busy finding a place to live and packing- here's a rundown of Jack for the past month and a half:
- He had his first Halloween and was the most adorable pumpkin (I may be a little biased).
- He went to his first TCU game on Halloween and lasted a good 10 minutes until it was too hot in the sun for him and us.
- His cousin Addie and Aunt Jennie and Grammy (Jon's fam) came to visit that weekend and we all had a great time watching Addie with Jack. We could already tell that she would be a great big sister come April!
- Jack has started smiling when he wakes up and sees Jon or I. It is the best! He smiles a lot these days and we spend many minutes between naps just smiling and talking with him.
- He has quite the variety of sounds he makes and lots of drool to go along with some of those sounds.
- He wants to sit up so badly- he will laying against a pillow on the sofa and lean his head forward with all of his might to try and sit-up.
- At his two-month dr.'s appt. (on November 18th), he weighed 12 lbs. 14 oz. (90th %) and was 24 in long (90th %) and I don't remember his exact head measurement, but it was in the 35th%.
- Jack took his first road trip to Tulsa and slept most of the way down with one stop to eat and slept the entire way back. He is a great traveler right now! Hope that attribute sticks around!
- His first Thanksgiving was very fun, although he slept through most of the parade and the meal! We had a great time with family and Jack got to play a lot with his cousin Gabby!
- We have heard him laugh three times and are looking forward to many more of those!
I think that about sums up his life right now. He's not sleeping through the night yet, but we can usually get a good four or five hour stint out of him, which has been nice for Mommy and Daddy! Next up for Jack is another trip to Tulsa for his first Christmas and a trip to the pediatrician in the middle of January. Next up for Jon and I is "finding" things in Austin. On the list: a pediatrician, a church, childcare for when we are both working, etc... If anyone out there knows a good pediatrician here, we would love to know about it! I promised many in Fort Worth that I would be a better blogger once we moved- so keep checking back and there will be more updates! I will try to post the latest pics later today!
